Happy Australia Day

Thinking the beach is going to be full because of holiday, we opt to what the Gold Coast Council free family entertainment offers. A free car park and shuttle to and from the park was also running every at least every hour.

Although traffic wasn't too bad, there were at least 4 car crashes along the way which made our travel very slow.

We watched Rodeo, pig race, woodturn contest and some stage shows.

Pics below are taken using iPhone.

Patting the camel after the ride.

The queue for camel ride is very long, took about an hour and cost $6 per person for a 3 minutes walk.

Before the camel ride.

Onto the back of the camel, the guide was giving instructions how to ride the camel and how to lean on when the camel stands up and kneels down.

*verdict about camel ride - - it was fun! Would like to do it again, hopefully to ride an egyptian camel in the desert ;-)

Skating

The weather here in Australia is very mad. Up north in Queensland is flooded and a bush fire hell is raging in Victoria. The bush fire is still ongoing and at the last count, 173 are confirmed dead and thousands were injured.

On Sunday, Brisbane was very hot and humid. We have to take the children out
and went to Suncorp Piazza for a practice of inline skating. Not long, a group of teenagers with
skateboards joined them and then came the security guards telling everyone to vacate the area and play somewhere else:-(

Afterwards, they decided to dip their legs in the water, promising they won't wet their clothes because we are not prepared to swim nor did not bring any spare clothes. But who would believe a kid's promise??? Not even 10 seconds and they're already waddling in the water.
After more than half an hour, it was time to go, even if they're not ready and came home naked but wrapped in a blanket. Note to self, always bring an extra clothes.

LOCALe is run by Brisbane City Council in collaboration with emerging event producers. LOCALe events positively activate Council's youth skate park facilities, engage & challenge the local community and promote community groups and activities.

• The events combine a major skate/BMX competition with an entertainment/activities program that showcases youth culture and invites the local community to get in and have a go.

• Families can get involved in such activities as circus workshops, drumming circles, kite making, DJ lessons, sticker making and hip hop dancing workshops.• Nationally recognised bands bring great attention to the event and provide local bands with a great platform to get their own music to new audiences.

• The events create local opportunities and local community groups are sourced to provide food and entertainment wherever possible.

The birthday celebration

Ethan's 3rd birthday celebration was held last saturday afternoon in Svoboda Park. The weather was perfect and we found 2 vacant tables for our ourselves. There are at least 3 groups having a party on that day, and we're lucky to get the best spot. The children enjoyed playing in the playground. The park is away from streets and has a big football area, tennis court, barbeque and toilets.
